How we choose

Objects get more interesting when you know what to notice.

We are not a museum, and we do not pretend every object is perfect. These notes help make the handwork, material and care visible before an object reaches your bag.

Handmade pottery and woven baskets

The honest details

Variation is the signature of handwork.

A brushed edge on brass, a tiny shift in glaze or a slightly irregular line in a woven textile can be evidence of process. We review every item for stability and function, then keep the living details that give it character.

Care notes

Simple care keeps an object in the picture.

Dry metalware thoroughly after wiping and avoid harsh polishing compounds unless a product card suggests otherwise. Ceramics are best treated as hand-wash pieces unless we confirm a glaze and form can comfortably handle daily machine washing.

Questions make better gifts.

Tell us where the item will live, who it is for and whether it needs to travel. We will point you toward the right scale, a durable finish and a wrapping option that makes sense for the journey.
